Happy Hump Day ~ Feeling Accomplished :)

This morning I woke a bit early but quite awake and ready to tear into my newly arranged sewing room… first I had to take care of a cup of coffee though! lol

… And get some hand stitching in 🙂 I am now working on this block of Kimber’s Memory Quilt.. and a few days ago became inspired to do something with her label…
I don’t have a picture before the continuous border was added… but here it is ready to be appliqued..
then I realized this needed “special quilting” on it.. so I pulled out my fave book of quilting ideas and found this..
But I really wanted a rope or chain that would fit on this narrow border ( once appliqued!) … so I searched “rope line drawing” on Google… I found this..
Perfect.. I printed it out and put on my light board to make sure it would work then traced it onto my fabric…
Now I marked it with a VERY fine blue spritz marker as I am waiting for good blue markers to arrive via mail.. lol!  But here is the design on the block …
Can you see it??
The center block is 2″ and the outer ring will be 1 1/2″ finished when appliqued in place on the right lower corner of the quilt….  my plan is to just unpin this section.. add this to the top.. cut out the back fabric bulk… quilt these lines and spritz away.. we shall we!!! lolololol
About the time I got done working on this label.. the doorbell rang and CJ came to play for the day.. his mom is having surgery today so please send your happy thoughts her way 🙂
And then the other day I was scrolling facebook and saw a quilt I remembered…
Here is a Project Pink update..
Rebekah was my Project Pink focus last year…Recently on facebook and she posted this..
and spoke of how grateful she was to have this quilt.. that made me sooo happy 🙂
Have you ever received fun feedback on a quilt when you needed it for another project??? lol!  This years Project Pink recipient hasn’t contacted me back as of yet.. but I sent her a small gift and card asking her to be my penpal and sharing some about me 🙂  So continue to keep her in your thoughts too.. her name is Sarah.. she is also young for breast cancer.. so it seems right now these are the ones God is sending me!
Okay, time for me to get more accomplished.. CJ is currently napping! lol
Have a blessed rest of your day and thanks for sending happy thoughts up for these requests 🙂 …

~ Jazzy Monday ~

I am here to tell you I have the last of the butterfly sashing in the hoop currently.. the end  of this section of the quilt is IN SIGHT!!!

This is sooo Whoopable.. Finishing this short strand of butterflies will solidify that I am 2/3 done with Kimber’s Memory Quilt now 🙂  I am rolling downhill now!!!

Plus I recently found out that Kaydence’s mom DID actually lose the quilt in their house fire that I had made Kaydence before she was born .. so guess what she wants!!!    A NEW QUILT!!  I was thrilled to find out she actually wants a keepsake style quilt with her name and birth and weight and length.. and she promises to use it too!

So besides the other behind the scenes stuff that is going on I have been designing something that will go together quickly…
I will be embroidering this center block for the quilt .. copying Keashia’s handwriting on the center.. she is mailing it tomorrow since no mail runs today… I have fabric pulled and can start this hand embroidery writing when I get everything from her 🙂  I am excited!!!

I was then equally excited when Wendy showed me this block and I drafted a row of 3 of them to see what I thought…

So there is now a quilt for Kaydence drafted!!!  I think it will be rad and just the colors her mom asked for.. Keashia is excited.. as am I !!  I love being a Grammy!!!

Well the hand quilting of this last bit of butterflies must go on…  Here is my fave background noise when I stitch..

a water bubbler!! lol  I have had this for years and it helps me focus on stitches and length and all while I listen to tunes and have the constant of the bubbler in the background too!

What do you listen to as you stitch???

Hope you have a blessed week.  Until my next post…

Lovin’ me some slow stitching on Sunday :)

I find this time of year very INSPIRATIONAL!!  For instance I saw this…

Beautiful hand stitches by my fb friend Andi Perejda.. she teaches a (the only actually) hand quilting class on Craftsy… I have requested an advanced course taught by her.  She encouraged me to contact Craftsy and ask for this… and in return I got a response saying they would consider offering it soon!!!

So I took the above inspiration… and drew blue lines that spritz away after quilting … for my next block on my current project…

and got to work using the same thread I have used on the rest of this project.. YLI in white 🙂

Here I am about halfway done…

And here it is back in my hoop for a bit better picture…

So finishing this block is my goal for the day!!!  Do you have a goal for your Slow Sunday Stitching??  Join me at Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching right here!

This block is very meaningful to the receiver… and my goal was to give each block of it a life of it’s own.. brought together with my hand stitches in white YLI 40/3 thread!! 🙂  I think it is working 😉

I currently am working on this block located on the bottom left of this quilt… once done I will only have the 4 blocks and remaining sashings on the right side of the quilt!!!  Yippee 🙂  I am loving this project since seeing Andi’s block above and seeing the possibilities… even though this is not quilted as heavily as hers … I am really having to pull myself back from quilting parts more than others! lol

On the Grammy front this week I have updated pics of both my precious grandbabies to share with you… here is Kaydence…

What a cute face to wake to on Saturday morning… this pic was taken Friday night.. she is just over 4 months old now!!!  My how time flies 🙂  She is the perfect mix of her mom and dad too 😉

And closer to home.. I got in a photo shoot featuring my grandson CJ!!!

Here he is with his Papa and Mom… such a happy addition to our family for sure!!  He will be 16 months this week… and is just like his shirt says… sooo handsome!!! lol

Now onto a more serious topic…

Do you do anything for October to celebrate breast health or lack of it??  October is Breast Cancer Awareness across the globe!!!

Come back later this week to see what I do to celebrate October in Pink!!!

Hope you come back and see me then!  Until my PINK POST…

October… Already?!!!

Happy October and Happy Fall Ya’ll! (or Spring if you are below the equator!!)

Above is a pic I posted on the first day of Autumn here in Florida… and here is a pic I found on my friend Kathy’s fb page today…

Unfortunately… I had to have this one explained to me.. do you need an explanation as well??? lol

When other states travel to Florida the license plates change colors.. as Florida has a huge amount of “snowbirds” who come for the mild winters… but they begin arriving about now! lol  And this is accurate for sure!!!

So I hope whatever you have planned during this season includes something nice.. I have been hand quilting some.. although I haven’t been blogging the progress much as it has been slow but steady…

I did finish this block… although the quilting doesn’t show much in this photo….

it is quilted quite nicely and will show up once washed as a background of sorts..  Then I also just finished this sashing…

Just 5 blocks, 3 sashings like the one above.. and one wide sashing left on the center of this quilt… hopefully October will find me with MORE time to get this quilt closer to finished as well!!!

Here is was as just a flimsly… now all the center vertical section is done… except the wide sashing on the center right.. and all the left side is done except the lower left block… that is what I will be focusing on next!!

And if you are needing some fun pieced inspiration.. here are a few things I see finding a way into my future projects..

Above is a “T” square block.. it reminds me of my daisy if done in a bit different colors…

And this is a few blocks from a free pattern on Bonnie Hunter’s Quiltiville… Open Studio page.. love this design…

And here is a quilt my sweet DIL Kayla sent me to inspire me on a quilt she wants for my grandson (her child) CJ…

this is a baby quilt and I want his designed more along these lines for a center and add fun blocks around it.. she enjoys modern so I am open to ideas you all may have …

I am more into traditional things… lol!

And this piece just wows me!  It ws done by my fb friend Andi Perejda.. and is just breathtaking to me that she did this…

the texture her handquilting adds to the applique is just amazing to me!!!  She had a Hand Quilting class on Craftsy.. if interested message me and I can forward you a link or just go on Craftsy and search “Andi” to find it under classes.. well worth the money.. but wait for a sale for a better price too!! lol  I continue to learn.. but have requested an advanced class from her via Craftsy after seeing this piece… I couldn’t even imagine coming up with this design of hand quilting on my own!  And it is basic echo and such with areas left unquilting for the leaves.. love that!!!

My Nanny (paternal grandmother) turned 97 years young on September 22!  What an accomplishment!

She is still very clear headed with a great memory and lively conversation was had the day of her birthday too!  So happy she is doing so well!!!

I really have been living a life I could be proud of as of late.. and found lots of inspiration in this saying…

 I find it very true!

So happy I am back to my blog… please take time to leave a comment if you made it this far.. we can always use an encouraging word now and then.. I am in need of that today!

Have a blessed rest of your week/weekend!  Until I can post again…

Happy Friday :)

Hello my bloggy friends… glad I haven’t been gone so long this time 🙂  Hope you are having a Happy Friday in your part of the world!!!

Although it doesn’t show in the shot above… I am about 3/4 finished with the crazy triangle background stitching on this cute sunshine!

This is all part of a memory quilt I am hand quilting for a dear friend from her daughters clothes… her daughter died suddenly several years back…. she is now ready to enjoy the clothes instead of store them…

So here is the top me and my bestie Connie put together this summer… once I finish this beautiful sunshine.. penned by Kaylie just weeks before her death… I will have 5 blocks left to quilt and some sashings too… then onto the borders 🙂

I am hoping to have this done in November as I have other things in my quilty life that need attention too… but this is taking first place currently and until I reach the borders I really can’t focus on anything else… my friend needs this quilt to snuggle her daughter again!!!

While I am quilting this fun quilt… I have found a new series on Netflix…

And having a teenage daughter .. it is very appropriate and has given me great communication ideas for her already and I am only 5 shows into the first season and there are about 7 seasons to enjoy on this show!!! Yippee 🙂

Have you seen Gilmore Girls?  It is a TV series from 2000 to 2007 about a working mom and her academically blessed daughter and their lives together… being a single mom myself now I am relating to a lot I see on the show… but more than that I love seeing a healthy mom/daughter relationship… hope that doesn’t change as the series progresses!

Linking the quilty parts of my post to Confessions of a Fabric Addict blog… Sarah is also hosting a GREAT GIVEAWAY TODAY!!!  HERE 🙂
On a sad note my favorite bracelet that I wear every day finally stretched until it broke the other day… I felt naked without it.. well God led me to a replacement one and it came in the mail this week!

Tah Dah!!!!

I have kept what pieces I could from the broken one.. so one day when this one breaks I will mix them together and have them restrung at the local jewelry shop… and not let it get stretched out… will be the best of both then!  For now I am really enjoying my new glasses, new bracelet, and new hair do!  All is good in my fashion world! lol

CJ hasn’t been coming by as frequently lately… but he did stop in once this week…

Isn’t he a cutie!!!  I love my grandson soooo much!!!!

And I made him his fave breakfast…

Grammy’s homemade oatmeal and some fruit just the right size for his fingers to feed himself with! lol

We played with some books my bestie Connie had sent and he played with toys a bit too.  He makes me smile no matter what mood I am in when he stops by!

I hope to finish the sunshiney block today and move down to the bottom left corner and work on the Brewers block next… that and some house chores that I have been sadly lacking in getting done is what is on my to do list this weekend… How about you??  Are you having a Happy Friday too???

Have a blessed weekend… and remember to…

September is Speeding By!!!

Can it already be mid September?? Wowee !!!  We have been busy here.. how about you?

I am working on hand quilting this block in my memory quilt for a dear friend…

I have also updated my computer and speaker… to a Dell and a Bose respectively.. and am loving them both!  I even got a cute new mouse that coordinates with my new blue Dell!  🙂

I got new glasses and a new hair do as well…

It is a bit of a mess here but I love it … and so does my honey!!!  So that is nice 🙂

I also got my dd her Christmas present… a quilt top she fell in love with on eBay…

As many of you know.. piecing is not my favorite part of making a quilt… the hand quilting is… so I will enjoy hand quilting this next spring for her to enjoy but gifting the top with backing she chose from a host of wide backs I showed her… I am excited for her to receive this and know it will soon be quilted for her.. maybe she will want to help me even!!!!

Mostly we have stayed busy with featherweight and 301 sales… currently we have 2 on eBay…

and one of facebook… UPDATE>>> this one is sold!!!

We are very blessed our “business” is going well too!

Hope your September .. is it coming into autumn or spring where you are?? … is going well.. and hopefully not feeling as fast as my own is 🙂

Now that I have caught up with all of you I am now ready to…

Hope you are doing some of that too!!!

Slow Stitching Sunday!!! Yahoo :)

I am sooo excited to be able to share progress this Sunday!!!!

This is one of Kaylie’s dresses that we cut the back off of and appliqued to the fabric… I have been so busy with other things… and had a block on how to best quilt the skirt part of this dress… to keep it flowy yet secured well to the quilt for long use… the ruffle on the bottom is being left loose so Kimber can enjoy playing with it when she wants to 🙂

This quilt…

is about 1/3 done with the quilting now 🙂  Yippee for that!!!  There are many quilty things on the horizon and next year is even filling up with things to do… I must balance life and activity with desires and such… to keep me going.

I did design some business cards and ordered them..

Shipping and all was under $15 for 500 from Vista Prints… we are very happy with them.. they are glossy on the front and matte finish on the back.. so I will be adding these to the thank you notes we enclose on our facebook/featherweight sales in the future 🙂  You are welcome to use /share this information if you know anyone interested in getting a great condition 221.  That is my quilting on a embroidery piece a friend made for me… then I gifted the whole thing to a wall hanging celebrating my honey’s hard work with featherweights 🙂  One of the glamour shots I took of that finished work is the picture there… Exciting stuff for sure!!!
On eBay we picked up this cool vintage “toy” for CJ to enjoy for now and future grand kids later..
This little pup moves along on his own with his little legs moving when you pull the red ball attached to a cord going into his neck… very very cute.. I remember having a similar one as a child as does my honey 🙂  Do you remember anything like this from your past??? (We gave him his tail as he came with just a hole there and no tail.. lol)
Look what we had to wait behind at the pharmacy last week…
We thought only in small town Florida would someone come to the Pharmacy on a bike with kids in tow!  Very cool indeed!!!
But our big score of the week for me is this beautiful 1950’s Singer Queen Anne cabinet my honey found and bought for me…

the drawer in the front opens out from the top… I love that sooo much too!

Currently it has nothing in it.. but as soon as the room is clean and usable again it will soon find lots of quilty accouterments to fill it! lol

Above is a bit of a blurred pic of my Gloria (301A) in her new forever home…. and below is Gloria when I did a photo shoot with her a while back…

And my fave part is that I now have access to use her again… her and that seam guide she came with make an awesome team to help me piece accurately and quickly too!

Life continues to be fast forward… but I am hoping today and tomorrow to have more quilty time… I am linking this moderately quilty post to my fave linky party with Kathy’s Quilts on Sundays HERE!

I hope you make time to be labor free this weekend…

And until life slows down for me to share more…

Hello September :)

Hello my bloggy friends and…

It is hard to believe life has been so fast forward for me that I haven’t shared with you since MID AUGUST!!!!

Hot and humid here… how is your weather???

As we welcome September 2015 into our lives… I am still stitching on the same dress on the memory quilt I was in my last post.. stitching is getting done… just not at a fast pace.. lol!

I have now not only updated my computer to Windows 10 .. but a new computer I got for my dd for her final 2 years of high school and into college (will she do that?? lol) .  I updated it to Windows 10 as well.  Windows 10 is So EASY to navigate… the negative to Windows 10 is if you have anything pirated on your computer… it does remove that stuff… I don’t so all is good for me 🙂

The BIG SURPRISE was a gift to me from my honey!

I got a new computer too!!!!

It came with Windows 8.1 but I quickly and easily (after 3 restarts of the computer) got Windows 10 on it as well.. and transferred all my pics and docs to it as well!!!  For now we are keeping that old computer as it does still work… just VERY slow at it these days! lol

I will say of all the computers I have owned DELL has BY FAR the best customer support available 24/7 but on the first call I was assigned to a team there and they have called me to check my status and answered emails and voicemails promptly.

Are you in the market for a new computer ???  Check out Dell and this one was a factory refurbished one we got for half off retail but with all the expertise of help that a new one comes with and it flies on the internet and processing multiple pages too!  Thanks for offering top quality products dell and very affordable too!

Hope September brings you pleasant weather and calmness before the frenzy that seems to ensue for everyone as Christmas approaches…

Until my next post…(hopefully not making you all wait 2 weeks or more this time! lol)

Back up and running with Windows 10 :)

Well… I guess I needed a bit of respite from all things internet!!! lol

Since my last post I have uploaded Windows 10 to a new computer I got for my dd… and then to my 4 year old computer that was running on Windows 7 too!!

All went well on the new computer… but geek help was definitely needed on my 4 year old computer to get it to be convinced this was a GOOD thing 🙂 lol

So what is important to share with you all about this conversion??  I LOVE the new Windows Edge platform except I have yet to figure out how to change the search engine from Bing… to Google again.. and MY BLOG would not post in Windows Edge… so I am using Google CHROME to post this 😉

In the meantime…during all this updating I have still been quilting!!!

This quilt… shown as a flimsy above… is such a joy to work on as each block or sashing is a new adventure!!!
I have finished the middle column… that is in my last post 🙂
So next I worked on the left side vertical pink sashing strip… adding Kaylie and Kimber’s favorite … butterflies to that area …

I used a blue wash away marker and all came out after these photos… but I am using white YLI 40/3 thread for the handquilting and try as I might… the pattern doesn’t show much on the loud prints until I wash it and get the texture popping!!!

Then I moved to the 4 blocks in the left hand column…

I finished this cute block with Piglet pajamas in it…

And am now working on this little cotton dress!

And during all this computer changing over stuff… my honey has decided it is time to sell another featherweight he has serviced and sewn on..

This beautiful machine sews like a dream and is soooo quiet and yet so strong too!  If you are interested just PM me on facebook or check it out in one of our facebook sale ads.. we have 10 pictures of this beauty 🙂

Well, as good as it feels to blog again… and regain my bloggy voice… I am also mentally drained from figuring out how to do everything computer related again.. having a business from home that depends on the internet for sales and communication … and keeping up with other things going on behind the scenes here at Casa Del Loro is exhausting to say the least!

So for now I will wish you a great week and try to take my own advice now to…

Whooping a NEW BEGINNING!!!

Hey there from my sweet grandkids…
From my home… here is CJ at 14 months old….

And via Facebook and Tennessee here is sweet Kaydence I have yet to focus my camera or kisses on yet! lol  She is 2 months already too!!!

It has been a while since I have had a post that made me wanna whoop really… at least around a Friday! lol  Cue Sarah at Confessions of a Febric Addicts Friday linky party… check her out HERE!

So what am I whooping besides the worlds cutest grandkids a Grammy could ask for??? lol

My new beginning quilt I showed you here last week

… and in this shot I was ready to quilt on my new desk my honey made me too!

Well…. I love the quilt and I love Love LOVE the desk!!!  It rolls and it is a nice large 16″ x 42″ top… my honey picked out all the wood special for this project and the casters work great on the tile floor too!  It has a shelf on the bottom for current supplies and for a place or me to prop my feet when I am in depth quilting 🙂

Superb is my review of having a desk to set my hoop on and use to work off of! 🙂  Love it for my style!  Home Run Honey 😀

As far as my progress… it has been stellar too…

Here is the center block… about 16″ x 24″ background block size… it is a rabbit jumper from when Kimber’s daughter was about 18 months old…

Here you can see some of the blue lines I haven’t sprintzed out but you can see the design better this way… all lines are gone now though ! lol  This tshirt was one of Kimber’s favorites… she said her daughter was truly a little chatterbox! 🙂

And here is how I start each outfit… with a picture and add drawing on my iPad.. not sure i I endorse any program for this topic yet… Do you have a fave one that draws easily on photos… and lets you type in a title like I have done here????

This dress above is one of Kaylie’s baby dresses.. note we were able to leave the buttons on the dress front during piecing and my quilting plan includes accentuating them.  See… 🙂

Also this week I tried my first paper pieced block…

Yes, it turned out nice.. but boy is it a waste if you are tight on fabric! lol

Also it took me over 2 hours to produce this block after watching a long vid by Carol Doak.

I do like her reasoning and methods.. but it isn’t fun like I like quilting to be for me… I have 3 more blocks to do like this but different “bird” colors…. lol!  We shall see how long that takes 🙂

Another Whoop to share during this last week was that my recent finish wall hanging was featured as the header of one of my facebook hand quilting groups… I don’t frequent it much anymore as it has gotten large and more impersonal.. but I enjoy the eye candy…

Imagine how amazed I was to be the giver of the candy for 24 hours of show!  Whoop!

In closing… here is one more pic I found of Kaydence.. taken by a photographer…

Doesn’t this shot just make you want to smile! 🙂  It sure does me !!!

Have a blessed weekend and until my next post…
