Hand Quilting in the Dark …

Okay… so I didn’t hand quilt all week in the dark but my post is late today because power was out until just a bit ago… some trees in storms moving through our area fell on some power lines and we were out of power all together for 5 hours today!!!

But look at this great photo I got during the power outage… I hand quilted like crazy between naps! lol

Today I am linking my slow stitching progress to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching linky party HERE <
Kathy is working on binding on a project… fun to have a happy ending on something  you have been working on for sure!!!

Last week in my post I was just finishing the first row of big swoon blocks.  So this week I focused on the sashing that was all fun quilting no fill…

After getting that border filled…  I got to work on the fun filling…

 And medallions were born…

this photo is my new obsession photo…

And here is the end of that sashing row…

Next … as I roll the quilt to expose that I forgot to do some stitching in the pinwheel section… so for now this is all I get to roll the quilt…

And a look at the whole quilt on the frame from the side I will start quilting from ….

Here is my latest fave selfie taken in my sewing room…

I just got my Julius back.. you can see him in the background ^^^

Below is my Julius… a Singer 301 from 1952.  He was a bit tight for unknown reasons…

So as a birthday gift from my honey he totally tore into him and using WD-40 inside only and re oiling and greasing all the parts after initially oiling and greasing with no resolve in the tight issues… He is sewing like a CHAMP!!!!

Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville showed some sugar cookies someone make for her retreat in KY this past week… what a LOT of work these work.. work of Heart for sure!!!!

I machine stitching this basket block… it needs a partner to become a pillow sham… 1 of 2 needed for my darling daughter who will be coming for a visit soon I hope!!! 😀

This is the washed version of the heart mosaic art quilt I made my best friend for her birthday… she took it home and washed and dried it with only more texture showing in the process and no issues with loose or missing squares 😀 YAY!!!!

So… I made another one for another friend and made a Tutorial I posted on my blog Friday HERE <

Here is the back of hers with hangers added as she requested… Connie’s was hung with a single straight pin into a cork board in her bedroom just as easily though 🙂

I resubscribed (at least temporarily) to Netflix (cancelled my Hallmark NOW subscription as it was not as much fun and variety and Netflix)… This has been my fave show by far …

Rick’s new – to – us case found on eBay came this week…

It is very much him 🙂

Daisy Meadows Update…

This fern by our grist mill comes back every year y’all… no covering or work needed to preserve it!!!!

Rick has done a LOT of work to the grist mill and it now runs 24/7 at the same speed and with no adjustments since he set it after removing a lot of the big pipe inside and adding a valve and some smaller piping… it is technical to me but it works and I love looking at it as I sew and quilt!!!!

Across the pond is this majestic ancient weeping willow tree… our native Eagle likes to watch our pond for a top floating fish to fetch for a meal at times…

Here is a bush/tree in our yard.. the blooms look white but at the very center they are a dark magenta red color… very unique I think…

We have some class 66 bobbins for sale on facebook… These are domed on top and bottom and vintage 🙂  Everything else we have put on facebook has sold already or I would share more!!!

And I just wanted to share this after missing a posting time a couple weeks ago… I got several concerned emails…  Thank You !!!!

Please take time to think positive and …

Currently I am thinking positive of electricity and how much we take it for granted for sure!!! lol  Have a blessed week y’all!  Kathi

I made GRAND progress in the hand quilting arena this week finishing Elliana’s name completely and rolling the quilt!
Here is my morning view today…

 And a side view…

And a close up before I got a good start 🙂

Linking this progress to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching post 🙂  HERE  Come see what everyone else is stitching by hand today over at her place ❤
I also shared this photo last week or the week before.. I have been pondering it and even ordered some fabrics in a mini jelly roll format to add to my civil war stash to make a coordinating table runner in our kitchen colors…

To the right is 12 log cabin blocks laid out like the pattern suggests but missing the stars… needs the stars…. so I made more logs at the right size and whah lah…

Now to just add star points to the logs I added and sew it all up this week 😀
Linking the table topper designing and sewing progress to Wendy’s Peacock Party HERE 🙂
I also got lucky finding a remnant of this fabric that is about 25″ square with 1 selvage for a bag for my daughter she requested a couple weeks ago 🙂

Lynn Hagemeier is coming out with a new book called “Kansas Troubles Prairie Life” I want to get where she features lots of cute things but it includes directions for this pillow cover…

I will make mine pillow shams but she has a couple different patterns so I will support her work and buy the book!

Bonnie Hunter had a Quilt – Cam on facebook Saturday.. it will be on her blog today if you are interested…

She made these cute tulip blocks and gave tips on putting them together quick and easy 🙂

A girl in one of my hand quilting groups made this table topper… I am envious and wanna give it a go when I find time…

Isn’t it lovely??  Here is a link to the tutorial on youtube by Fons and Porter 🙂

We have sold 2 of these sewing machines this week… my honey does a great job working on them and polishing them up and getting them ready to sell.

This one came with a box and clamp… we had another one that didn’t have all that though.. both sold fairly quick on facebook 🙂

I got the most lovely snail mail happy mail this week…

From a hand quilting blogger 😀  I have already given the needles a test run and LOVE THEM!!!!

I caught Molly being very cute this week…

And for the second time in a week my honey picked me flowers to keep by my computer…

 I love that!!!

Now don’t forget to leave your email address if you are a no reply blogger and your name so I can get in touch with you if you are the lucky recipient of this stash of goodies to celebrate my 8 years blogging….

And made sure to be in love with your life!!!

And just like that.. it is December 2018 y’all!

Wow!  A year has gone by and so much has happened for us.. how about you… can you reflect on all this year has brought for you??  I just have to say a happy …

A friend on facebook posted this yesterday… I asked permission and happily am using it today as my lead photo to welcome in this final month of 2018!
Also, I updated my profile info here on blogger.   Please let me know if it doesn’t read well since I reworked it… thanks!
I want to link out first off to Kathy Quilts and Slow Stitching Sunday post HERE.  Without her I would forget to document my slow stitching and other progress here I think! lol
Today she is sharing a link to a facebook group that NEXT YEAR will feature a Christmas themed sew along from Gail Pan in Australia… check out that direct page HERE if this photo catches your eye as some embroidery you would enjoy doing… I really really like it.
Kathy has been stitching along with Gail on a different stitch along this year and will finish it first… or so she thinks… bu this looks soooo cute!
I will have to see if I can fit it in my time… how December goes for me… you see I am hyper focused on my hand quilting progress …
See my new pink and white coffee cup I keep nearby in the photo above!!!
And check out my view in the early morning hours on cold late fall days…
I love this fireplace!!!!
So really though… Here are some close ups of my progress since my last post on Stars Among Us quilt that is in progress…

I love finishing a row and rolling the frame…

Some how I didn’t save a photo of the border stitching but you can see above and below it got marked and done… and more of the center got marked below this morning 😀

It is my favorite time of the day when the house is quiet and I can put on headphones and learn something new or listen to music and stitch… or just ponder 😀  How about you… what do you do as you slow stitch your favorite things???
As you see above the phone cradle my honey made me is getting LOTS of use!  I love it 🙂
We got in and sold this Singer White 221k this week… it was a true beauty!!!  The new owner will get it Monday..

While looking for some things in a file cabinet we have … I found lots of varied manuals for vintage machines so we have been selling them on facebook.  Here is one that hasn’t sold yet but is very nice condition and will probably find a home soon 🙂

I got these cool cork engraved labels last week… but didn’t get a photo of them… so here they are… just 1″ square … they are for bags and misc that I have high hopes of making in the coming days! lol
I found a black with gold decal Singer vintage machine I really really wanted for bag making and heavy thick work I have planned… to complement the piecing excellence I enjoy with Gloria my Singer 301.  My honey and my bestie got in cohoots and ordered me off eBay a 1950’s Singer 319w.  I am still NOT SO PATIENTLY waiting for it to arrive though so I will share photos with you of it…

Above is their lead photo… but it is dim so we requested a better lighted photo and got the one below…

The man who advertised this machine is a sewing machine mechanic in his retirement years like my honey is… and he sells different older machines so hopefully it is packed very well… a snow storm that hit the north slowed down it journey to North Carolina… so I am waiting… PATIENTLY!!!!  hahaha
This sewing machine will take the place of my 401 Zena.  Zena will be going to my daughter when she gets a place to keep and use a sewing machine… so I am using her for one last task…

Helping me quilt this panel… shown above (it is vintage Daisy Kingdom.. maybe 1980’s sometime??)

And below is a photo of some of my planned quilting…

Here is some of the wool batting getting sewn under the snow couple on Zena…

And do you see the wall I get to view as I sew here??!!  I am pondering while Zena is out taking time to rearrange the sewing room on this side a bit to give me light and window space by my sewing machine… we have such lovely window views here!  We shall see 🙂
I am also waiting on this lovely vintage stripe I purchased a half yard of… it will be a candy cane binding on this when it is done…

One thing I finally bought myself this week … now no more trying to make my Gingher or other vintage pinkers work…

Is a pair of pinking shears!  They are Fiskars… come with a lifetime warranty and a teal handle I just LOVE ❤  Once all settled from our shopping I found a scrap piece of fabric and cut 1 layer, then 2 layers, then 6 layers!!!  I am mega happy with these … I hope they stay this sharp because they cut 6 layers of cotton fabric EASY!!!

Now here I am feeling like Minnie Mouse in this photo…

But slowing it down for today to share with you all and see what y’all are up to as well!  I love Sundays when we have no hard set plans 🙂  How about you??!!

Finally, I wanted to share with you… if you have a crafty friend or family member and you just don’t know what to get them this year… think about looking into a Bluprint 3 month subscription.  It is about $30… is available all over the world as a gift to learn via video in your own home about a large array of items… my friend Karen is an affiliate… check out her blog HERE for more info on this great gift idea (at the end of this linked post) … I gave one to one of my best friends this season and she is LOVING it !!!!

Have a blessed day and pray with me my new to me sewing machine makes it here MONDAY!!!  Meanwhile I will be chugging away Living a Life I Love… How about you… now go visit Kathy and check out Gail Pan’s facebook group and 2019 plan 😀  Hope to see your post there!
