Monday, Monday!

Happy Monday after Mother’s Day!ย  Are you still flying high or did you fall back into the reality of being a full time maid ๐Ÿ™‚ lol

This bloom opened just this morning about 9 am and I was delighted to see some clouded sunlight coming in the sunroof of the living room and shining so nicely on these lilys ๐Ÿ™‚ย  There are several of them in the arrangement… and not all of them are open yet! … I arranged and played with them after this pic to get them organized for peeks throughout the day ๐Ÿ™‚

I have been dutifully working on THE MAN quilt… and happy to report I have finished over half of this block…

And as you can see I am almost 2/3 done with the block and feather combo… my friend asked me if I could see the end of this quilt yet.. my response was that I can see the light to binding… as that will be next up after I finish the 3 other blocks in this center section of the quilt.

More quilting to do after the binding though… but that should go faster for me ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Mostly straight line stuff.. not intricate swirls and swirly feathers ! lol

My honey just finished rehabbing this machine… he fashioned the cabinet himself.. it is all wood and for sale here on eBay if you are interested in sewing vintage and want a cherry of a machine!

I call it Firecracker.. because it is tan and blue with a reddish case!ย  And I am a 4th of July baby so this one is near and dear to me… ๐Ÿ™‚ย  My daughter named it String Bean! lolย  I don’t know why at all ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is a self portrait my daughter made me along with a darling note in her beautiful cursive handwriting for Mother’s Day ๐Ÿ™‚

She has a knit cap on in the picture ๐Ÿ™‚

I love this pencil drawing so much!

And here is a brownie with coconut creme icing on it..

Yummy… made by my son Mike for me!

Hope you enjoyed this post!ย  Now on to goal setting..

My goal is to finish this block by the end of the day and send you all a report tomorrow! ๐Ÿ™‚
Do you have a goal for the week.. or the day… or the month even??ย

Would you play in a linky that you post goals and show progress in a special post once a month??ย  Just wondering!

Have a blessed day!

Ripping out and Starting over = SUCCESS!

Hello my bloggy friends… I have been uber busy this week with other things … but have managed to get a bit of stitching time in since Sunday… mainly on these beauties ๐Ÿ™‚

6 almost perfectly pieced blocks… my best piecing work ever!ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

All but the last block required some amount of ripping out and starting over… I thought you might light a short tute on how to make ripping out or “frogging” I have heard it called… a little easier…

First snip every 3rd or 4th (if on a flat area) thread from the top if you know which is the top of your piece (chain piecing can cause you to get confused I think! lol) to remove thread from…

Once you have done this across the entire seam then gently PULL the pieces apart.. now they will have little stings (and a long one on the back side from your bobbin thread)

Clean up all the strings … if you have a long seam use a rolled piece of sticky tape to catch on those little pieces in a snap too!

You are ready for another try at that perfect pieced block now ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Yahoo!

In reviewing my last block post I found the pic of this QAL did not show up so let me show you the example of this pattern and kinda what mine will look like…

but only the same basic layout on mine… the spool blocks and borders will be similar but I plan to feature My Fiona in the center!ย  Fiona is my main sewing machine I use for piecing and she and I are really getting along ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I love sewing vintage too!ย  The hum is like no other type of machine!

Here are some close ups of each block in the order I did them ๐Ÿ˜‰

The very last block was the first one cut and last one pieced and is the most special piece of fabric… each piece in this quilt has some meaning to me for the spool insides.. but this was a cover my friend Joyce made for my gypsy… now that I am selling my gypsy I repurposed the bag into 2 blocks… the one above… and this one a little smaller that I did with my friend Wendy!

I love that polka dot white fabric but wanted plain for my wall hanging so my hand quilting would show more ๐Ÿ™‚ย  This “test” block for my learning was a perfect place to add the white polka dot fabric don’t you think?!

I plan to do something special with this block and am pondering it.. it measures 6 1/2″ now and finished at 6″ .. ideas anyone??ย  I could applique is to my quilt center section… that is a thought on that redesign.ย  A sewing machine with a spool and a cute pair of scissors ??

The MAN QUILT will be getting some attention today from me.ย  Right now I am about 1/2 way through this feather now ๐Ÿ™‚

I have 3 feathers, 1 cornerstone and 2 blocks to do in this grouping… no goal setting for this as Ebay selling has to remain center stage in my life this week… that is what has been keeping me so busy ..

I am selling all my craft room and will have an advertisement posted on my blog this afternoon for everything I am selling on eBay.. it is sad but necessary and I don’t use the stuff anymore so it should go to someone who will love and appreciate it for what it is!ย  Wonderful paper crafting tools and accessories to make masterpieces possible!

I am also trying to sell personally my Cricut Gypsy and wanted to offer it first to my paper crafting followers and their friends… are you or do you know anyone interested in a Cricut GYPSY???

If you know anyone with a Cricut that doesn’t have one (works with all Cricut’s no matter if small or large, old or new).ย  I am selling this to the first person that contacts me ๐Ÿ™‚ย  If you are interested just contact me here!

Thanks for bearing with me through these times… more quilty fun to come!

What makes you smile?

Project planning… New Fabric Alert!ย  Doesn’t that make every quilter smile???

I got these cute charm packs by Riley Blake in Red/White and Navy/White… each has 28 charms in it… so I have plenty to make something like Jenny’s quilt like this…

I think mine will be a bit different but I want to applique on it “Welcome” and use it by the front door.. that is what is NEXT!ย ย  But what about now???

I am loving my Slow Sunday Stitching and plan to link this post to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching linky here

I started with a goal of completing this area (2 blocks, 3 feathers, and 1 cornerstone)…

Here I have done one feather and the spine of the one beside the blue block to stabilize that area… now I have marked the block and have started quilting it at about 9 o’clock on a clock working counterclockwise works best for me… I am ambidextrous ๐Ÿ˜‰

Now this week was not a quilty week for me after all.. I started this out strong on Monday, Tuesday I got these cuties in the mail!

They are personalized cotton twill labels that won’t ravel and I can sew into the binding of my quilts!ย  Don’t you love them!ย  There are lots of choices… I found them in this Etsy shop ๐Ÿ™‚ย  The cost was $13.00 plus shipping to me… and I think it comes with 20!ย  I designed all of what they say and you pick and icon from appropriate quilty pics to add… I just went with the hearts ๐Ÿ™‚

My honey got an order for a dog this week so all else stopped (thus I quilted Monday! lol) and he made a pup to ship ๐Ÿ™‚ย  I love their eyes the and ears so much!

My honey took pics and organized stuff I removed from my craft room to sell…

Using a camera that he loves and the Picnic white polka dot backing as his canvas to take pics on…

And look how they came out… We have listed 127 things right now… lolย  These are just our 2 faves of the moment! ๐Ÿ™‚

ย Finally yesterday… after various errands and more time listing things to sell… I got back to quilting.. and have finally found a stopping place to share with you all!

Tah Dah!ย  Yep.. didn’t meet my goal but if I hadn’t had that goal… I wouldn’t have done this much I bet as busy as the week was! lolย  But I got 1 block done.. 2 feathers… and 1 cornerstone done…

My hope is to have the remainder done by Wednesday.. but I have more stuff to list on eBay! lolย  Yep… my papercrafting room is past and before the stuff I have loses value I need to sell it!

In closing I would like to share some of what has helped me make it through a very busy week with unmet goals… looking at this beauty in one corner of the yard…

ย And looking at this bougainvillea leaning into the daisies really rocks my mornings ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a blessed week and thanks for taking time to read my thoughts and share in my busy week! lol

Selling my paper crafting items…

And it is very hard to do… I was a die hard paper crafter for many years and suddenly all that dried up for me one day and NOW here I am a QUILTER! lol

So check me out on Ebay if you are looking for great paper crafting and stamping stuff too!ย  I have got tons still to list but I have listed almost 200 auctions in the last 3 days ๐Ÿ™‚ย  WHOOP!!!

As for my hand quilting goal… I have until Sunday night to finish this area…

I already did the feather between the two blocks as part of my goal too!

And right now I am here…

over 1/2 way on both the block and the feather down here ๐Ÿ™‚

So I am also WHOOPing my progress.. and the new goal setting I am learning!

Lest we think I was not busy this week since much quilting didn’t get done… here is what was up for sale after listing things 1 day…

From this room I am decluttering and selling a large majority of my stuff…

The picture and the sewing machine are NOT for sale! lol

So in the meantime I am looking at this as I spend so much computer time listing these items to sell…

ย So my Whooping question to you is… what does “Live in the Sunshine” mean to you?

For me… I think it means to looks at life sunny side up!ย  Glass half full.. not half empty.ย  What do you think?ย  Love to hear from you!

Boxes arrived!

About a week ago we ordered boxes to start shipping my honey’s handiwork.ย  They came in EARLY!!!ย  Now we are live on Ebay finally!ย  Yippee ๐Ÿ™‚ย  We are pondering an Etsy store but want to grow first on Ebay and “work out” any kinks (like coming up with a nice letter to put in each box about that products history and how to clean and use it….)

I have finalized my quilty girl here…

Isn’t she cute… and much better than “Hand Quilting Rocks” I think ๐Ÿ™‚

And finally my honey’s productions with my computer designed ads finished up for ebay like this…

Can be found on Ebay for purchase in the USA here.

And the Doxie bowl set…

Can be found on Ebay for purchase in the USA here.

Now I will get back to my fave thing… hand stitching… THE MAN quilt is 50% complete on the blocks and over 70% done on the feathers giving me about a 60% finish on the whole quilt!ย  Yippee ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope you have a blessed day and order some nice homemade goodies if you like!ย  My honey loves to make them and makes them to order ๐Ÿ™‚
