Mother’s Day 2020 – Lots of Progress to Share!

I hope if you are a mom of human or pet… you are celebrating!!!
If you are a dude I hope you make the mom in your life feel special!

It has been a crazy week full here at Daisy Meadows!!!  Come on in and relax and read and see what I have been up to 🙂

Four years ago this week my honey finished building, staining and sealing my Hinterberg quilt frame (built from a kit we got at Hinterberg dot com… you can call them too… based in the USA).

This picture is at our home in Florida 4 years ago!!!

Now this week in our North Carolina home…

I rolled the quilt in the frame and started working my way from the right side over to the left side now in the wide sashing ….

That frame is probably even better than when it was brand new as it still had to be broken in a bit then 🙂  I love this frame and all the love that went into making it for me… like we enjoy seeing quilts we have made wrapping our loved ones too!

Here is a photo that came across my vision this week so I saved it to share with y’all!
My first quilt… machine pieces and hand quilted with the guidance only my bestie Connie could give!!!

We no longer have that bed … or mattress set! lol  But we do sleep under a hand quilted quilt always.  This quilt I use on my feet now.. and I have used some of it for pillows too 🙂

Last week I got this cool red work panel in the mail… I found it on eBay … it is made by Marcus Brothers…

I am planning to cut each square I use in this wall hanging for our kitchen … but first I will redwork them all!  Starting with this percolating coffee pot here…

I found some vanilla fabric in my stash with no selvage but 100% cotton and a nice weave for stitching through… to use as a stabilizer and to hide any dark red that may show through each block…

See now how opaque the background is and how nice the coffee pot shows off…

The thread was a welcomed gift from my BFF Jannessa… I am sew blessed with 2 of the bestest friends a girl can imagine!!!!  This is DMC 498 …

(you can see that I didn’t have that stabilizing fabric in the photo above!)

And here is how far I got this week since just starting mid week or so…

Speaking of great friends… I have yet another great friend who remembered me for Mother’s Day….

Yes… Holli Jo sent me a seam ripper made by her cousin’s family and picked out to be similar to hers with the North Carolina flower… dogwood… on the handle.  Isn’t this amazing artwork to make a seam ripper from such?  HERE IS A LINK to her Etsy shop too if you are interested in adding something like this to your sewing notions… it is SHARP too!  The link will open in a new window too so you don’t lose your place here 😀

When I saw it come out of the package I knew it was from Holli Jo… I am sew blessed Y’all!  Her cousin included a sweet note in the well packed gift and a sweet little bag to hold them both 😀  I felt so special to receive this item!!!

Then I have been doing some piecing on some flying geese for a future quilt and also turning a quilt kit that was just started to cut and not finished… into a 62″ x 18″ table runner for my kitchen….

Above is my ideas … I have gotten farther but you’ll have to come back next week to see the flimsy I will hand off to Jannessa for fmq… my honey loves her fmq-ing on our bar table runner because drinks don’t tip easily and it stays nice and flat because she is GREAT with her fmq!!!!

Look at this quilt that inspired my friend Connie… I love it so thought I would share it here…

And here inspiring me… is a Gerber Daisy we picked up when we lucked out and found a little place open selling flowers… we got some cheddary orange colored flowers for around our flag pole… we got a pot for the Daisy and when the freezes are over and they are planted I will share a photo with you >>> Yes it froze the last 2 nights below 30 degrees here!!! CRAZINESS!!!!  And our sweet Molly … freshly brushed … she loves looking pretty!!!

Here is a meme I found… PLEASE when you can’t social distance… WEAR A MASK!!!

So what is the joy in the story you are now living??? What is a new normal thing you have learned to love that you didn’t initially…

I have learned to love being alone with my honey and our pooch… she is a joy and he is a hoot… I am definitely more blessed than I realized to be quarantined with the crew I am with!!!

I have had to learn to balance time that I listen to news though.. my honey needs more news info than I can deal with so headphones are a blessing at times!

Hope to hear from you below in the comments…

From Muddling to Magnificent >> Hand Quilting Has Started Back Ya’ll!

Happy Sunday Y’all!  Magnificent is sew much nicer than muddling!!!

These birds are photos from facebook eastern North American bird types Jannessa sent me… we thought they would make a cute opener for my post today and cheer you each up!!!

I have spent the last month muddling through… sewing masks…

Til I am soooo tired of them… I think this is a breaking time for me as all my friends family and locals have a mask … I think! lol

This Corona virus – Covid19 is a wicked virus for sure!  But it is maddening … esp here in the US opening early or refusing to wear masks in public places and refusing to adhere to 6′ distance in shops… is sad really!!!!  There are some folks even rushing the state government buildings with no masks as a method of protest for the governors not opening their state quite yet… Just Sad!!!

After listening to a quilting related fiction book as an escape from all this.. I decided I wanted to see a Garden Maze setting ….

Above is a setting like that… I bought a Marcus Brothers panel on eBay and it came in this week…

I will be hand stitching in dark red all the 20 blocks… then using this pattern here to do the most traditional type of garden maze setting…

I have a photo of these blocks put together but it is VERY busy… so I will make mine look more like the first photo I showed you with this pattern for how to piece it most historically with the switchover squares in place.  I can be more precise with this NEXT Sunday once the fabric I ordered arrives.

Molly wanted to pose for a photo here… on a quilt she loves that I hand quilted …

My honey and I celebrated 9 years together with filet minion, baked potato, and broccoli …..

It was completely yummy…. then the next day my honey talked to our neighbor who had mentioned selling a John Deere mower almost new… so he dove in and offered him a cash price he couldn’t refuse… we got stimulated this week as well so that is what our $$$$ went to 🙂  We are passing along the good deal by selling our older mower to a friends kids for less than it is worth 😀

What comes around goes around … the motto we live by… we got a deal so we are passing one on!

Do you have a motto you & yours live by?

Here is a great family idea… let each person in your family choose a different color paper and trace their hand… you might have to get a bit creative to have this outcome but isn’t this a great way to remember this “time together” as a family unit???!!

Here I am … multiple times in the month of April I sat in my chair and looked out the windows at the view and viewed my hand quilting progress but just didn’t have any desire to pick up my needle and thread and make stitches….
Well thanks to a challenge from a very nice friend I am hand quilting!!!

I had 3 different sewing sessions to hand quilt this area of the quilt I am on…. I also finished that right sashing but the light isn’t out to get a nice photo for you all…. more next week!!!!

Jannessa started on the Miss Jane’s Best miniature quilt pattern that is embroidery heavy this week …

She got these 3 blocks all done… she is going to trace some for me on this same thick doll making muslin when she has hers made (for me to use to stitch with)!!!

It is a group project I guess… I let her use my pattern that had been a gift to me (I will make it when she is done),  Connie is sending her 30’s repro fabric from her stash, and Jannessa is using DMC floss from her stash and mine to do the embroidery…  How FUN for Pandemic Relief Efforts!!!!

Linking all this hand stitching and my renewed hand quilting to Kathy’s Quilts Linky HERE <<<  Come see all Kathy is up to and all the rest of the linkers too ❤

Even when I haven’t felt like it I have blogged every Sunday morning…. I appreciate your kindness for leaving a comment when you visit my blog too 🙂

So continue being Kind and Wearing Masks when in public places please!

Staying At Home in North Carolina ~ Happy Progress this Week!

As me and my honey heal from a sinus infection we got as spring enters our area… we are also practicing quarantining ourselves as our part in this global pandemic we find ourselves in…
I spend time daily remembering all I have to be grateful for in this world!

As a quilter and specifically a hand quilter and lover of sew many crafts… I am having a blast NOT leaving home…
I am keeping track of quilting and crafting I accomplish in my bullet journal and when I lose track of where I was… I only have to look at this journal which lays open in half as pictured below to keep my train of though and craftiness high and the news intake limited to our President’s updates and a quick run through other news outlets for balance.

I am really happy with this layout on my bullet journal….

With the above layout each day a similar block to write in and future projects I may need to ponder are right there too.. this is my weekly spread now 😀  Yes… you can keep track of sew many things… but I needed something to organize all my works in progress and planned works.  This does that for me.  Maybe this quarantine time is time to pull out an unused notebook or take some leaf paper and make your own self a bullet journal for what YOUR needs are!

We have been enjoying spring like weather since Spring Sprang on the 19th… Alas I woke up this morning chilled and temps in the 40’s so the heat came back on but for the last few days we have enjoyed open windows and doors!  We have screens in all of them and fresh air was an amazing stress cleansing agent too!!!  So in the meantime we took a drive about and my honey took a walk about and caught some great photos of Daisy Meadows (YES ~ We named our property! lol )

Does anyone know the pink tree in the above photo is??? We love it ❤

Check out the daffodils next to our grist mill above…

Above is above side of that pink blossomed tree…

Below is our home from across the pond…

And the other side of the pond looking down at our neighbor’s barn and check out the reflection of this ancient willow tree!!!  A local bald eagle loves to shop our pond for his meals from that willow tree!

We are hoping the hostas my honey transplanted last year will take off in this flower bed… it gets some sun but not as much as it looks like…

Molly and I got out the cushions after my honey set up the table and chairs to enjoy the springtime weather….

I did some stitching outdoors on my fusion quilt crochet squares…

In fact I have made lots of progress there this week…

I am working on the double pink fabric one now 🙂

Speaking of pinks… look what I found next to my quilting frame this week!!!!  Blooms in MARCH!

Crazy Christmas Cactus!!!!!  and then Molly and I on the golf cart supervising my honey fixing a pipe.  Lots of work in keeping the pond and fish all happy! lol

I don’t have much to show on the hand quilting front… but I did start this block after finishing the sashing to the left…

Being sick with a sinus cold has slowed down my ability to sit long so I am enjoying jumping from one little project to another while I take antibiotics and prednisone <<< makes me a bit jumpy! lol

Linking my fusion quilt…  buttonhole stitches by hand and this bit of slow stitching done at my frame to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching HERE <<<<

One of the things I have enjoyed A LOT this week is cutting out this intricate pieced briefcase!!!!

Jannessa and I each had picked out fabrics for this project… we plan on having a closed door (through the glass) meeting later today to trade off a few things… she will be picking up all the pieces of this project ready to tart working on… and she will bring me some other things to help me with my briefcase 🙂  These will house our laptops and other things when we make trips in the future!

Be honest if you are working on a new project during this time… isn’t it fun to be forced to use your stash in ways you never dreamed of???!!!!  I am really liking the challenge… and also finding shops open who are willing to mail or do curbside delivery if you have one close…

REMEMBER the SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS Y’ALL!!!!

And a Special shout out to my son and daughter in law who just celebrated 3 years of marriage!  They are EMS in a small county in Tennessee and they are on the front lines!!!

Also TODAY is my Daughter in Law >> Heather <<<  Happy Birthday!  Isn't she beautiful 😀  She if very kind too!!! I am blessed as is my son ! 🙂

As I close I hope this post has uplifted you… please share how you are getting along during this crazy time in a comment below!

This Pandemic will touch us all in some small or large way before it is done I am afraid… stay calm cool and collected and stay in your home if possible with only your clan!  Let’s keep the wave flat!!!!

Surreal World… Happy Progress Here !

Hope this blog post I am sharing today brings your joy!
Keeping in mind how things have changed in the last week … all over the world! <<<  Try adding one of the above to your new daily routines as they are forming… a good laugh is sooo nice.
Here I am wishing you well!

This week I got quite jiggy with working on the crochet quilt… It can also be located by searching the interwebs for “fusion quilt”.

So I exchanged my 10 buttonhole stitched squares for 10 that need buttonhole sititching…

The buttonhole stitching is the base you crochet onto 🙂
We will see how many blocks get done THIS week !!!

Hand Quilt Along Links

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

My other Hand Quilt-ing focus this week included some stitching on Appalachian Delight quilt… above you can see how I am quilting each bearpaw block.. below you can see I am in the 2nd of 4th big blocks from the edge.  Little bites at a time on this quilt y’all!
Linking this progress to Kathy’s Crew of Slow Stitchers at her blog HERE <<<<

But most of the week I spent designing and making this!!!!

Both Julius the 301 and Cleopatra the 319 got in on this fun… first Julius sewed the top into a top… here is my pattern I fashioned after watching several you-tubers ideas on how to make these best! lol

I used flex foam by Pellon to make it sturdy.. sew in not iron on as I didn’t want any wrinkles left behind!

I backed the foam with this backing fabric I had plenty of … and it suited the interior of sweet Cleopatra’s cover.

Then after pin basting I put on the walking foot and quilted this piece….

Here it is all put together … waiting on the binding to go around the bottom now 🙂

 And Tah – Dah!!!!

Here is my fave shot of all though….

And while assembling this was fun… changing the bobbin for another job I realized I WON BOBBIN CHICKEN!!!! YAY 👌

 Bullet Journaling update….

Here is last weeks journaling above… and how I changed it just a bit for this week…
I like this layout y’all!  Keeps me accountable when I lose my momentum 😀

As we go through this next week… make to to video chat or facetime safely with all your fave people..  be safe and stay healthy.  And thanks for stopping by my blog to fill your time 😀

March 8 ~ Daylight Savings Time << And sew much to share!!!

Happy Sunday my Quilty Crafty FUN friends !!!  Today do not forget if you are in a region that changes time like I am in North Carolina, USA…
I am sew glad you stopped in for a visit this week!  I have a lot to share so grab a cuppa something good and let’s chat!
First some eye candy for you…
I am in a facebook group for 9 patch making… haven’t started my project yet.. I will be using a future quilt for this group 😀 THIS LOVELINESS is from a member of that group … she made this all herself!  Now to quilt it 😀
Hope y’all remember me making some lovely wall hangings for my great friend Holli Jo?!!  Well this week we were chatting as she had just returned home from a long winter visit with her dad… she shared these photos of wall hangings I made for her last year…

I am blowing this one up for you …

Doesn’t her cutting table look sew wonderful topped with that banner… she has some neat gadgets and holders of her gadgets too ❤

My honey got jiggy with his hands and craftsmanship and figured a way to hang this very heavy fixture on a wall with no support boards behind it… mount it to a board then mount to the studs wherever they are!!!!  LOOK 😀

We bought that fixture a couple weeks ago at a thift shop for $25! YAY us 🙂
Most of this week I have found my mind wandering to these little blocks though and doing button hole stitching around them… until I ran out of prepared blocks to button hole stitch!!! OH NO!!!

I had 20 completed and even 3 or 4 have crochet added to that button hole stitch in those in my “done” pile.  I have 80 blocks total cut in pairs and ready to make into blocks… 20 of those are in process so why not throw 20 more into processing… so me and Julius my 301 decided to take on the task…

I sewed the 6″ blocks right side together with a bit of batting for the center.  Once I sewed around all but a small opening I trimmed close to the stitching and clipped the corners near the stitching on the 45 degree angle… I flipped and pressed them then hand stitched that little opening closed….

Once all the little openings were closed I top stitched a hefty 1/4″ in all around each block to hold them all square and prep them for the button hole stitching 🙂

Soon I had marked 20 dots per side plus the corner diagonal…

That is the correct set up Connie, my bestie who designed the crochet for this block decided…

Soon I was onto another … my little embroidery scissors accurately trimming threads…

This morning I was happy to take a photo of 4 button hole stitched blocks for y’all!

I am using this crochet thread in size 10 for the button hole stitching and the crochet…

In the end I will have something like this Crochet Quilt but more colorful because I am using rich colors in my fabrics…

I am linking all this button hole stitching to Kathy’s Quilts Sunday Stitching Link up… I do all the button hole and crochet by hand… she even chats about how therapeutic knitting is today HERE <<<
Of other importance this week … has been focusing a bit on hand quilting Appalachian Delight…

I still have the inner bear paw on the right here below to stitch on… then it is to the sashing 😀

I am doodling and keeping up with daily journaling in my bullet journal…

I was using the manila colored paper below and transitioned into my bullet journal this week for first of March…

I have changed it a bit for this week… ditching my layout above and trying this layout to give me more room to write about progress…

I already am looking forward to this 🙂

High on my priority list in the sewing room is designing a dust cover for each of my 2 daily used vintage sewing machines…

HERE <<< is a link to this online article with free helpful hints and a pattern to make the one above.

I like to get ideas online then do my own thing… so here is Cleopatra’s beginning…

And below here I am pondering the pillow cover that is worn .. using as a pocket on the front to memorialize it in a seldom used pocket like the sample one has 🙂

We tried a box of Jiffy blueberry muffin mix … looked lame until the blueberries were fully expanded and bubbling at the end of the cooking time… yummy!!!

This week I have really followed Bonnie’s advice…

Do you take time to just follow your heart sometimes???  I love when life slows down enough for me to !!!  Have a wonderful week and thanks for visiting!

Happy March Y’all!

I am just giddy that March is here… I have enjoyed winter … but Spring… OH MY!!!!

You see we are still seeing THIS …..

 SNOW!!!!

A look back toward where the above pic was taken… Rick is doing this on the golf cart to test out how it handles on snow…

This tree we call the “popsicle tree”… not sure of it’s type but it held this wet snow well!

Here is a photo Rick took of the flag in front of our home…

We loved this photo of the flag flying…

Even the cabin we keep an eye on for the owner got a scenic view!!!!

We even made a video of Rick doing donuts in the yard… on our golf cart that actually traveled on the snow quite nicely!!!!  I tried to add the video here but Blogger doesn’t like it! lol

So besides enjoying Mother Nature’s last hurrah of winter…. I have done some journal keeping and quite a bit of sewing too ❤

working on the base stitching layer of the crochet blocks to be…

Sew when I have the chocolate and purple block done… there is just 1 more block and then I can look in the bag and dig in the closet to find the rest!!!  I can’t remember if I have more ready 😀  I play these games though so that I will see FIRST if I can stay consistent with a project…

Today I may focus on these little squares.  I may ALSO spend some time at my frame though too!!!

Look at this cool shot I took as I stitched this week….

And >> I rolled Appalachian Delight yesterday… I took this photo before rolling to share my progress…

and this close up…

And this view here looks GREAT rolled down some doesn’t it ❤

The snow made it very bright through the windows so I cropped most of that brightness out! lol
Linking this rolling progress to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching gang HERE <<<  Come visit her blog and see all the benefits hand stitching can do for you too ❤

I am also pondering a new quilt … it won’t be ready for quilting for a while!

Here is the layout….

It has 72 snowballed blocks and 71 pieced blocks… all the white centers will be ivory…

I am going to you 2 layer cakes… I need to get 1 but have the other…

The one I have is this one here…

The one I think I want to add for it’s medium tones is this in a layer cake….

The great news is after some quick calculations I did buy enough of the background fabric… 6 yards and I need 5 for this quilt! whew!!!!

So I won’t be starting this yet… but you will see the Shelbyville~Lancaster Quilt starting soon here 🙂

I have straightened my sewing room so that I could use the cutting mat and cut out & made some reusable cloth dish towels made to be used in place of paper towels… I like them but don’t love the way I made them… I will make some this week and share that photo… but me and Jannessa bought some toweling and now I need to make some proper used rags from it that coordinate with our kitchen and look presentable too.  I will say what I made cleans and washes well though!

Molly has adopted this chair with this quilt in it to nap on when we are in the kitchen… she is soo cute!

Here is a great shot of sweet Ellie….

Here is some placemats that I desperately need a plan for quilting…

And now I bid you adieu… I hope you have a great first week of March and don’t forget….

Have a blessed week… Lion or Lamb 😀

Busy Week Here ~ Sew Much to Share !!!

Have you ever stopped to realize how easy a smile spreads when you share one???

Look at this sweet smile… tell me she doesn’t make you wanna grin right back!!!

Her parents also sent this sweet photo of her with the quilt I made for your play with….

Later this week Molly got snuggling with her squirrel gifted to her by her boyfriend Max at Christmas….

She loves this toy more than any of her others… it is sooo sweet!  And yes… this is a hand quilted quilt she is snuggling in… it is one I made for her  and my honey to enjoy together!

Due to the weather Jannessa didn’t get to come over for her birthday celebrating until Tuesday the 18th (her birthday was a week earlier !!!).  She had said she preferred chocolate chip cookies for her birthday so I made her a big cookie for her birthday as a surprise and she loved it!!  Then she got her scissor fob too… once home she shared her fob in place…

After she took home her cookie leftovers… we made more cookies  ~ normal sized!!! 😀

This is a shot on our new plates and showing off Jannessa’s great fmq on this table runner in our kitchen!!!!

Here is my journal for this week… it was a VERY busy week for us.. it all didn’t get captured here though!!!! lol

I spent most of my brain power pondering the wallet….

Above is the beginning of card slots and below you can see those card slots on the interior of the wallet…

After 2 play dates Jannessa and I each have a wallet to enjoy that is complete!

I used Tula Pink Squirrels on the outside of mine with black and lavender trims…

And here it is hanging with my keys… ready for an adventure…

And here are a couple photos of Jannessa’s finished wallet… she made hers able to be a cross body bag instead of a wristlet strap that mine has…..

If you are interested in finding out about this wallet/purse check out THIS link for the pattern 🙂

Next up we are making this briefcase by my favorite bag designer Sew Sweetness!!

And we have each pulled fabrics.  Here are mine….

We need a few more bits so this will go on the books for mid March to make.

When making bags or wallets USE YOUR IMAGINATION though… look at this example I saw in the Sew Sweetness facebook group …

She took a plain fronted bag and added some amazing fmq details on this and a fancy strap too!

Thursday we had snow… I loved just watching it fall as I quilted and sewed on different projects on my list….

It never accumulated to anything so that made the falling snow all day even more fun to watch!

I have completed 1 of these crochet squares with buttonhole stitching and started on another…

I am very pleased with how the Appalachian Delight quilting progress is going…

Here is a close up of one of the bear in the cabin blocks complete on the bottom half of the block (as far as I can reach 🙂  )

This is the 3rd block over and where I will be working today….

I am linking this progress with my favorite Sunday Stop >>> Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching Linky Party right HERE <<<<  Come on over and see all the different kinds of handwork being shared today!!!

Here are a last couple of facebook finds with significant meaning to me ….

 What is your love language???

Mine is quality time I think… although I love being spoiled with any of the above ways of showing love 💖

In closing I want you to read this remember life is short… live it with zest!

Have a blessed week ahead and thanks for stopping into my little spot from the mountains of North Carolina!!!  I hope you share your fave love language in the comments below 😍

Appalachian Delight Progress!!!

I saw the above image on Facebook.. she looks like me as a child before I grew up, had kids, and turned silver haired! lol  In all actuality I did hand work as a child starting with counted cross stitch from age 6 or 7 I think! I had ever the nice collection then of dmc threads to do my cross stitch with.  I didn’t find quilting until 2011!!!

How about you?
When did you start hand crafting and what was your first way to craft??

I am having so much fun keeping track of my crafty and quilty adventures in my journal… and the pre-assembled pages… soon I will have it all in my journal book… that is the goal anyway

For instance because of my list of started but not focused on projects on my list above… was the crochet quilt… I worked on this block this week and finished the button hole stitch up on this one and pulled out another to work on…

Then it was Valentine’s Day!  Happy Valentine’s to all you that celebrate such a holiday 🙂

We celebrated with sweet little gifts.. and a trip to Franklin, NC.  I made Rick this shirt he had been patiently waiting for me to make…

Here is a close up of the v neck and pocket detail I added with Cleopatra my 319w Singer.

I got me a couple new shirts on a clearance sale… the one in the back is actually embroidered!!!!

While in Franklin we went into a thrift shop and found 10 plates we really loved…

Here is the label on the back of the plates we found…

In looking to see if we could buy others like these plates to have a full set we found they were a bit pricey to buy otherwise! lol  So if we ever need money we could sell our new china!!!  We paid $5 for these 10 plates!!!!  lol

I worked all week and rolled the quilt on Thursday morning…

I marked the outer border on the left side…

Soon that was filled with dark burgundy perle 12 cotton thread & the lines were spritzed away!

Here is my focus on the 2nd area of 6 areas across I will be quilting…

And here you can see the overview of my quilting progress and where I will be today … happily slow sitching…

And with that I will link this content of this post to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching HERE <<<  Come see the wonderful pattern she is working on today and even an Australian link as to where to buy  the pattern too ❤

I hope your tribe, like mine, is secure for you!  I hope that you know you are awesome too ❤  Ellie received her quilt later this past week and loves it already her parents say!  I am sew blessed 😀

Sew much to share this week y’all!

Welcome All!  Hope you have had as fun a week as we have had here at Daisy Meadows!!!

I saw this wood sticker with this saying on it and isn’t life just like this I thought!!!  I feel like this is me … wandering around life and finally finding the right direction to go in.  Finally!

Last week a sweet lady sent me the complete and uncut pattern for several sizes of raggedy Ann & Andy!  I was thrilled to receive such a sweet offering from one sewist to another !!!
I purchased raggedy fabrics then too!!!  We have some rick rack but needed some inspiration… We is me and Jannessa.. she is a doll maker already and making Raggedy’s is something we think we can rock for our grands to enjoy!!! YAY 😀

I found the PERFECT no bleed pen at my local Dollar General for under $2!  I was so stoked 🙂

So here is all I have gathered from stash and buying for this little bullet journal experiment and can it keep me more organized that I already am and will I use it ???

Remember this sweet pair of stork scissors I shared last week???

Well I commissioned my scissor dangle friend on Etsy to make me a new dangle or fob for these little scissors…

I could not be MORE pleased!!!!  she did an awesome job… Amethysts are special to me anyway and the smooth purple beads are charoite she said & then she threw in some swarovski crystals… delightful!!!!  😀

I saw this panel for sale on a facebook sales page… someone was offering it for sale.  I did research but it was gone by the time I decided it would have been a good deal with the coordinating fabrics added in…

After doing further research this panel is 24 x 36… that is big for a wall hanging… my honey is pure and true a John Deere fan but he doesn’t use blankets and quilts except at bedtime… so I couldn’t make it into anything I can think of besides a wall hanging… we have no real estate in his outdoor spaces for this fabric type item… any ideas ???

Then I saw this cute idea… a large picture frame with chicken wire in it…

 How awesome!!!!!

That got me in a decorating mood…

I updated this photo of me and Connie to the one we took last month… and put it on my collage wall my honey fixed me 🙂

As for the Beads Table Runner placemat …

WE LOVE IT!!!!  Taking almost a week to sew that binding on was ridiculous but worth every minute of work … this one is now OUR FAVORITE!!!

Since I was on sabbatical from hand quilting over the last couple weeks… I decided Ellie needed to get her a Play Quilt… Her parents had asked for one feeling the baby quilt I made her was too precious to be a play quilt I asked last week for some ideas with this fabric bundle…
Here the fat quarter bundle laid out to see…

And here is the lattice quilt design that stole my heart as I was searching for something fun and fast…

I made my squares 8 1/2″ and made my sashings 2″ wide and about 14″ long to be long enough…

I pinned judiciously middle and each end to keep the bias from stretching as I sewed the blocks…

And look how nice!  This technique was seen on the blog I photoed above but I went to the MSQC tutorial for key points on construction of the quilt…

I made mine 6 across and 6 down and bordered with a bit thinner white floater border…

Then I pin basted it to some white polar fleece… it ended up about 53″ square for me before washing!

Then I left Julius my 301 and went to Cleopatra my 319W for machine quilting…

Cleopatra has a nice big harp and made this job fun once the pattern was decided on… thanks Connie!

In just over a day of machine quilting (fast for me!!!) I was making the victory lap of basting around the edges… I wanted to add the binding to the back and wrap to the front and zig zag it onto the front…

And I did it!!!! YAY 😀

Here is Elliana’s Play Quilt in under a week to complete!  It is now boxed up to ship to her parents this week!!!

Here is the label I wrote with a Pentel Gel Fabric Pen I got from Amazon.

Along with my label too ❤

All the while I was quilting we have had quite the weather here in sw North Carolina!  SNOW…

And look at this pic my honey got!!!!

I started the week entering a pic in my journal…

And ended the week with a page in my journal outlining the steps of this quilt project… not all are the same though!  I hope to streamline this process through bullet journaling 🙂

Finally, yesterday afternoon my sabbatical completed and I returned to the quilt frame!!!!

Here is a close up of my stitching in the ditch around each half square triagle down there…

And here is a backed off view.. I plan to finish this block today and move to the last block bottom in this row…. Linking this slow stitching return to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching Link Up HERE <<<  she has some interesting conversation going on over there today!

Are you all my kind of crazy I wonder??? lol

I bet you are if you made it this far in this post 😀

Until next Sunday…

Beads Table Runner is done!!! Happy February Y’all!

Happy February Y’all… and Today is Groundhog Day in the USA… a time when we listen to the wildlife for weather predicting.. lol!
Phil the groundhog did NOT see his shadow…
Which predicts we will experience an early spring…

Do you think this is true???

I just love the Groundhog Day movie with Bill Murray – reliving the day over and over until he get’s it right! lol
As for us in North Carolina… it is a mild winter but we are hoping February brings some sustained chilly weather… we haven’t have SUSTAINED weather that is cold yet this season!!!
This has been a different kind of week for me… hibernating is what I have been doing mainly… and binding a new table runner for our kitchen.  We use it as a double placemat on our bar where we eat dinner each evening…
This table runner is about 18 wide by 60 plus inches long and I worked on binding…

 And worked on binding…

And finally came to the end…

This photo above and below shows the INCREDIBLE free motion quilting my BFF Jannessa did on this table runner.  I am soooo pleased… but hand sewing the binding just seemed to drag for some reason and then one morning I woke and finished it … and labelled it!!! YIPPEE 😀

Then I double washed and rinsed it and dried it nice and wrinkly and laid on our bar and gave us fresh napkins as well!  The Beads Table Runner is now in  use!

Here is a view of the table runner from the side… I am trying here to catch the amazing texture Jannessa’s little meandering stitches and flowers makes on this table runner…. also notice my Spiral Log Cabin wall hanging it coordinates with and the kitchen curtains as well!!!

Here is one last shot to show all the texture happening here… and it will only get better with time!  I love it … and so does my honey!!! He is amazed and said my design mixed with Jannessa’s quilting and my choice on binding seems to make the whole thing just come to life!!!!

I am linking this long bit of hand sewing the binding down to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching HERE… it was a LOOONG week of slow binding and it deserves to be shown off!!!
I got this new pair of SWAN scissors this week in a parcel that came with some attachments for us to sell… YAY!!!

The Silver pair with the scissor fob dangling is for my 301 but the thimble and these brassy colored scissors will be my desk sewing pair now!  I love having these little scissors at each sewing station I have… now with this new addition I have all I need…. except they need a little dangle too! lol

I have not spent much time here this week on the Appalachian Delight Quilt… But today that story will change… I am halfway across the quilt and I am linking this focal point of slow stitching progress to my friends in the HQAL group…
This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.
I will most likely be sitting here as the football game to end the season plays tonite in the USA in Miami..
Who are you rooting for … or will you even watch???

We like watching at interesting match up in sports but we aren’t big sports fanatics… I am going to make Chicken Pot Pie for dinner and enjoy some chip and dip too… but otherwise… I may have to find out which team won in the morning! lol

This cool little sewing machine has 8 spokes and is estimated to be made in 1914… the workmanship on this machine is AMAZING!  It sold in under 2 hours on facebook this week 🙂

Looking for a toddler girl pattern for these fabrics….  Ideas anyone??? Email me a photo of a good larger print quilt idea HERE (if you choose to send me a photo there it will open a link in a new window for you 🙂  )

 And before you go… remember…

So give them freely this week!!!!
