As this week comes to a close… Happy thanksgiving belatedly… I hope your long weekend was safe and fun 🙂 Ours certainly was!
We had homemade stuffed chicken, ham, mashed potatoes that were savory, dressing, cranberry sauce, and the best green bean casserole I have ever had! YUMMMMy!
Above is a snapshot of our room… I thought I had included it last week but alas… I had moving on the brain and this photo didn’t get included… the reality is there are 2 beds which is GREAT fun for Molly when we play with her to jump all over the room 😀
Below is a photo of me wearing one of the several shirts my bestie Connie sent me just before moving….
And all that yummy food we had for Thanksgiving ??!! Well that was thanks to our awesome realtor and his girlfriend 🙂
We found a house!!!!
It is about 45 minutes from our home in Topton and just the right size for my honey , our pooch and me 😀 We still have a deflatable mattress in case anyone wants to visit…lol!
There is a screened in back porch and this lovely covered front porch… it is 2 bedrooms and 2 baths on over an acre in a quiet neighborhood … we are excited for our closing this coming Friday!!!!
With that settled and everything closed til Monday otherwise … I pulled out my redwork! And yes we brought our pillows and quilts to the hotel for a cozy homey feel…
I love the progress I have made 😀 I added the P for Pepper to the grinder… what do you think? Linking this progress in slow stitching to Kathy’s Slow Stitching tribe on her blog HERE <<<< Come see what everyone is up to 😀
This week there is cooler weather and even snow is predicted on several days…. so we will see!
What have you been up to over Thanksgiving??? I would love to hear if you have time to tell me in a message below! 🙂
Monday for us will be our official day to move out of our home… go to closing… check into a motel in town… and come back here to show her the ropes at her request 🙂
Our biggest concern about moving right now is Covid 19. We wear masks and disinfect ourselves intermittently with alcohol on our hands and once home in the sink with a good long wash and sometimes change clothes to feel cleaner… Now we are moving into an environment that all these precautions may be moot… so yes we are hoping to find safety in a feeling in the motel… we will see 🙂 Here is a photo of their photo of what the room should look like…
I finished my hand quilting on this quilt on my frame y’all! Linking this glory to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching linky group HERE <<<<
And here is the quilt once off the frame waiting for a label and binding 🤩
Here is my last application of Color Street nail strips from this home…
And a great book … not on minimalism but just plain organizing what you have and love… I am listening to this on Audible read by the author 🙂
Here is a mountainous sunset as we were loading our things in a storage unit last night… Thanks for sticking around until the end 🙂
I won’t have time today or tomorrow to respond to your comments as I usually do… we will be doing last minute organizing, cleaning, and packing a bit more too. So until my next time to write to you next Sunday I bid you adieu and stay safe!
This week has been a true roller coaster but in the end we have a few answers and I got a LOT of quilting done to share with you too.. so grab a cuppa with me and let’s catch up 🙂
I am having some pecan ring and a strong cup of coffee myself.. how about you???
I wanna commemorate this post to Alex Trebek! I love jeopardy and hope they keep it going somehow… I am glad he passed with family surrounding him 💕
We are making final clean up for this property before we close the week of thanksgiving… no new home in the horizon yet but our belief is that if we stay vigilant God will provide!!!
Here is a view from a loft of a home we really liked but it has some moisture abatement that requires monitoring by a company… we want a house we won’t have to move from ever… so as beautiful as it was we passed 😉
I was giddy to catch this photo of my son James with his daughter Ellie!!! Such a sweet family!!! He enjoyed his birthday as did my son Michael 🤩
I got my honey hog tied into a photo op! I love how this turned out!!!
I have really enjoyed the relaxation in this crazy week to hand quilt on Appalachian Delight this week…
I decided to add the yin yang as it has special meaning to Rick and therefore I wanted my signature on this quilt … besides my fabric label… to be the yin yang! I love it… what do you think?
So I have 1 more row of burgundy swags then I will do a wavy line 2 or 3 times to get to the top edge… all doable in this next week while packing and finding a rental… right??? Lol Linking all this slow stitching PROGRESS to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching HERE <<<
Last Sunday I mentioned a thread company I had discovered and gotten free samples of their mainly big stitch capable threads… Here is that link… >>> HERE
Before I close I wanna share an opportunity that presented itself… Karen Brown.. a You Tube personality in the quilting world .. agreed to have an online meeting with me regarding Hand Quilting… I am sew excited 🙂 Here is one of her more recent vids…
If you made it this far please comment your fave part of this post or what you enjoy most about Sunday’s 🙂
As we continue into November 2020… the Pandemic rages on. It is so sad to see so many people with debilitating illness from getting Corona while some get a sniffle or no symptoms and move forward… this is true for most of the world too I believe. I think New Zealand may be without many or any illness at the moment as well as Tasmania… both are islands that have quarantined well. Meanwhile in the US we are facing more Covid 19 than ever before!!! So how am I dealing??? Masking , distancing, washing and minding my to-do list below….
We are being warned against mingling with family and friends that aren’t in our circle of living daily during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday weekend… while this doesn’t affect me much it certainly affects many around us who may choose to celebrate anyway or be very sad that they can’t celebrate with anyone… PLEASE find a way to distantly celebrate with a neighbor or family member who is alone right now y’all! We need to be there for each other in new and different ways. This week I gifted some Color Street nail strips to a new friend with a lengthy note attached for how to apply them and a link to a video to help her… she was overjoyed!!! Give it a try 😀
Today is my son’s birthday… James is 30 this year… so hard to believe. He has a wonderful wife and daughter and has yet to come visit us here in NC but they lead a very busy life at the moment raising kids and working.
Then on Tuesday my other son Michael has a birthday… He will soon be married and is celebrating 26 years of living in this crazy world 😀 He works for a Bank and enjoys wedding planning and hanging out with his bride to be Kristen. I talk to him weekly 🙂
Wednesday is Veteran’s Day so if you served in the military I hope you have a blessed day. My honey was in the Army and is happy he did. The benefits through the VA are wonderful to him/us.
The Presidential election we had Tuesday the 3rd , had final count numbers close enough to determine a winner of the Presidential portion yesterday… there are still several run off elections scheduled so we won’t know all the results and these results will still need to be validated and recounted I am sure… but we will have a change in leadership to President elect Biden. He plans to start a new Corona Task Force made up of medical folks in the know on this virus starting this coming week. Of course all this happens on his own turf. President Trump will not accept any of the results until the recounts are in and he has taken others to court to see if anything may change… so we will see how things turn out in the end.
Meanwhile… we have been house searching like crazy and not watching much of the shenanigan’s going on television… who do you even watch anyway… everyone has a viewpoint they this in the most right. So far there has been one house we liked but much of the square footage is large walk in closet spaces … we don’t need that !!! So we are continuing to look for something that suits us best… we are looking between Bryson City, NC to Franklin, NC to Waynesville , NC in hopes that something different will come onto the market in our price range. We may wind up choosing one of these areas to rent a space so we can shop easier once this house sells. Speaking of this home… we have the appraisal on Monday and due diligence or time to change her mind for any reason is up on Friday. Then we are to close and be expected to move out on the 23rd. We are excited and ready to hand over the keys and start a new adventure… we just aren’t sure where that new adventure will be yet.
While all this has been happening… we leaf peeped during our searches like crazy!!!
And I have made great progress quilting too!
I am coming to the ending of the center and by next weekend I should only have outer border to finish up. My plan is… once I do finish this center portion … is to mark the outer border completely to make it fit right like I did when I started this quilt many moons ago.. I will try to look that up for y’all next week. This week has just been too crazy though 🙂 I am linking this great progress to Kathy’s quilt group linky HERE <<<
I also wanna share for those living in the USA a company I only recently learned of that produces different weights of heavy thread for tatting, crocheting and BIG STITCH QUILTING >>> Handy Hands is their name… I requested a FREE catalog of their thread and got all this…
I will enjoy using these samples in the future when we get moved! I am also pondering a youtube channel show featuring me hand quilting and sharing tips and tricks of the trade I have learned over the years once we are resettled! I would appreciate any feedback you have on this …
Please keep President Trump and President Elect Biden in your prayers as this transition after all the recounting occurs.. we need a peaceful transition here in the US.
Have a blessed week ahead each of you and please… if you made it this far … leave me a message.. I reply personally to each email left for me with a message 🙂
Hope your November is starting out well today… we are a bit chilly but the rain from a bit tropical storm that left us with a few downed trees has passed so we are pleased 🙂
With final arrangements of our house sale coming into focus… we have an appraisal next week and closing the week of Thanksgiving… it is time to house shop soon! YAY 🙂
In the meantime… I have been quilting a lot on Appalachian Delight as I look for homes and talk to realtors and ponder more about how I want my new sewing room to be.
Look what I saw when I rolled early this week!!! The top of the quilt 🙂 DOUBLE YAY!!! So I have been busy quilting some more to finish this quilt!!!
Above is the view of all that has been accomplished… and below is what is left to finish before I can roll 😀
So I am linking this fun quilty progress to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching crew… Come on over HERE <<< to see what other slow stitchers are up to and get INSPIRED!!!
As for my health… I am in week 2 of the new medicine and can tell less seizures are occurring and I am aware of when they do occur now which is strange but I prefer that over not knowing at all! lol I still am not doing anything potentially dangerous… I will let the neurologist I see in a few weeks give me the green light for sewing, driving, and having time alone. But freedom is coming soon! Rick even went and ran an errand late this week without me because we both felt okay with that! 😀
I also went and voted on Friday…. I was proud to support the voting process and stand up for what I think would be best for America at this point in dealing with so many different things. And if this doesn’t make any difference this time around… I will recall this tattoo I saw on Pinterest a few weeks back….
Do you have any plans for November 2020???
Are you planning a family gathering that is somehow safe??? Or are you planning to lay low like us ?? It is quite scary to be searching in homes this time of our lives with Covid being so rampant across America.. please make safe choices y’all!
I love hearing from each of you and hope you make time to leave a reply … have a safe and happy November!
I have had lots happening this week to share with you each… Grab a cuppa something yummy and come sit down and chat with me 🙂
I love this Pooh quote when I need uplifting and remembering that I am awesome~ I hope this encourages you about yourself too!
We have a home inspection this week… we have a few nails to tap down on the roof but that is all they asked us to amend… so that is great!!!! And the buyer is interested in a few of our things and a quilt too! I plan on now leaving her a couple quilts I have been wanting to downsize from my stash and just didn’t know who or how or when.. now I know! How cool 😀
As for the appraisal to make sure the home is worth the loan the buyer is getting… that won’t happen until mid November (there is a wait for this appraisal process…) Then the Monday before Thanksgiving we are hoping to close on this home and be ready to buy another nearer the VA and other medical care and shopping outlets once Covid has passed.
I saw the Neurologist this week and started a new medication. I have a form of epilepsy where the white matter that should live on the outer parts of your brain got held up in the grey matter in the center of your brain… so it makes seizures like mine more prevalent the doctor said. He feels we can straighten out my medications and stop the seizures then decrease the medicine we increased initially once we are there… YAY! I am sooo relieved that medication can fix this as I already take medication daily so this is just adding a little pill in there that so far causes NO side affects that are unwanted like the seizures are!
I have been hand quilting a lot this week…
I finished the sashing row I was working on last week and am almost done with the first passing of the last row of blocks in this quilt… I think 2 more passes will get me to the outer border at the top of that last photo 😀 I am linking all this quilty progress to Kathy’s Quilts SLOW STITCHING SUNDAY <<<< Come see what other bloggers are posting too 🙂
Meanwhile in the US… we will be voting for our President soon… and celebrating Halloween too! Soon all that will be done and dusted and it will be time to think of Christmas.. as I have been reading about decluttering and giving meaningful gifts… what about Christmas giving… yes that too! Read this before making your gift giving plans this year… I found it eye opening and thought provoking…
I hope this post finds you happy and well. I do hope you enjoyed your visit with me today and catching up. Continue to pray for us as we search for a home and watch for seizures to stop too…
This week I have stayed focused on quilting… that is until yesterday when the bottom fell out of my day and I got sad feeling for no apparent reason…
Then I ran back across this meme Bonnie Hunter made!!!! Joy is the word that caught me and what I was missing!!! Today I am still sad but feeling hopeful though because Thursday I finally get to see the Neurologist about these seizures that won’t stop! YAY 😀
I am joyful too that we are getting closer to our time to move from this home. We are not sure how that looks yet and even the closing date is not firm yet… we still are waiting on some inspections to happen… though we did pass the termite inspection already so that is good!
While we are getting closer to moving I am getting closer to taking this quilt off the frame…
I finished the row I was had just started last weekend and one more beyond that…
Here I am with my thimbles on working diligently…
And here is a photo I took this morning. Linking all this progress to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching HERE <<<
I have spent the week listening to more decluttering advice… I plan to implement as we unpack our worldly belongings at our next home.
I got creative with some left over nail strips this week too… this was quite FUN too ❤
I used strips I had leftover… I store them in a zip lock baggie in the freezer.. and that cuticle treatment is sooo nice and moisturizing… get it at Amazon easiest 😀
I have ordered some fun colored nail strips put out for Halloween by Color Street…. but atm I am letting my nails grow back out as I mentioned last week… so I moisturize my cuticles daily now and lotion my hands and arms daily with Bag Balm ointment while I wait for healthy growth to be my reward 😀
If you are interested in trying these dry nail strips please let me know below. I am NOT having my party in November due to our move and these crazy seizures aren’t yet under control either… so that will wait but I still love having beautiful fingers to quilt with !
Don’t forget if you are polishing your nails with traditional polish or strips like mine to keep up the moisturizing during all seasons!!! Also do NOT use ACETONE!! I use non Acetone polish remover and clips to remove the polish…
So this week we hope to hear when inspections will occur… we should find movers this week and a place to store the items still in our home. We have more to sift through and get rid of… mainly in Rick’s mancave outside.
I plan on quilting when we aren’t packing or thinning down. Then Thursday we go to Asheville to view the motel we think we want to stay in while house shopping and have all our doctor appointments most of all.
Keep us in prayer please and thanks for visiting 🙂
I am sooo excited that our Buyer came through Monday with LOTS of paperwork to prove she could buy the house.. part with a loan and part with cash… so we accepted her offer and are now going through the hoops to get her into this home! This step is PENDING on some sites we are listed on and others call it CONTINGENT.
First we will check for Termites as a standard check here in NC. Then she will send people to inspect and appraise the house. This will make our move time sometime the first week of November our realtor thinks right now.. no date has been set for all that yet! lol
After making good progress last Sunday I happily made my way 2 times this week to the end of a row on Appalachian Delight! I am sooo excited to share pics of my progress with you all 🙂
Don’t you love ALL that progress isn’t it like watching a flower open or something???
After making 2 trips to the end of the row on this quilt… I am now looking at THIS…
So MOST of this progress was made while Binge Watching a new find to me on Youtube! The Minimal Mom is the channel name… it is a decluttering and home reno project channel… didn’t sound like exactly what I need in this season of my life but boy was I WRONG! It is EXACTLY what I needed to see and hear!! Do me a huge favor and listen to 1 episode… it isn’t even very long and features Dawn… the Minimal Mom and her twin sister Diana >>> HERE <<< will open in a new tab on your reading device.
Look at the quilting here… a friend of mine is quilting this top she made and I love it all! The angels in the quilt, the Kaffe fabrics she used for the colorful parts, AND I am loving how she is quilting the background too!!! AMAZING work 😀 THIS makes me want to add some stitches to the wedding wall hanging too! So glad I haven’t bound that yet 🙂
I haven’t made any progress on red work this week and I am fine with that as I made plenty of OTHER progress. I am linking this busy week of stitching to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching linky HERE <<< Come see what others are linking up and wish Kathy a Happy Thanksgiving in Canada this weekend too 😀
Last week I shared a pic of Jannessa… now this week I wanna share a pic Connie recently took… I praise God for this girl in my life!
I have really been enjoying the gas logs in the fireplace this past week too… I had a friend ask how I could use logs this early in the season.. it invigorates me to have them on for some reason.. I can quilt more when I have those logs next to me on early in the mornings when I am quilting.. during the day is busy and hustling and bustling… no time for fires then and too warm besides.. but the house opened up at night is perfect for an early morning fire and quilting and coffee to me! Yummy
In closing… I want to thank each of you for your time today while visiting with me… I do respond to every valid comment left privately. Please… if you made it this far leave me a comment so I know you were here 😉
It was a crazy week around here this week… with all eyes focused on getting us listed at the beginning of the week… waiting sooo slowly for the ad to go live on our home!
Well we went live on Wednesday afternoon… then had a showing Thursday and 2 on Saturday and I think we may have found THE BUYER!!! More to tell next Sunday when all the dust has settled so to speak 🙂 In the mean time we can ….
I snagged this awesome blessing to welcome in October on Facebook 🙂 I was so excited to find this neat quote I forgot who I got it from to leave credit! But I haven’t spent much time surfing Facebook… I have spent most of this waiting time STITCHING!
First I quickly stitched the apple pie above.. cleaning the house/yard/property and stitching alternately… Then I hooped up the pepper grinder to start on next…
And… this is where it sits with my “go bag” for when we leave our home for showings …
The scissors and thimble are my daily use items… the bag was gifted me by my bestie Connie for my birthday or just because … lol! But really I quit stitching on my project to take with me and focused more on a long time missed project…
That is right! I finally set back down to Appalachian Delight and put some stitches in this week!
I got past the official half way mark of the quilt this week by passing the midpoint of this row of sashing stitching I am working on… and it feels so good to stitch.. esp in front of the fireplace!
Linking all this hand stitched fun to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching HERE <<< where she encourages us to pick up needle and thread for some restful stitching today! Come on over by clicking the link and see what everyone else is up to and get INSPIRED!!!
I also traded out my nail strips for this set… LOVE THESE!!!!
Which brings this oldie but goodie to remember… and we do sleep under quilts in this home!!!
In closing I will share this sweet photo of my best friend, Jannessa, with 2 of her 10 grands… she loves them all equally too 😀
So thanks for stopping in and please keep our President in your prayers as he deals with Covid on his terms…
Here is my motto and one I want to carry into our future home with us when decor becomes a thing again… aka when we are settled! lol
Because Home for me is where I am with my honey 🙂 I saw this phrase when surfing Pinterest and thought if fit!
Close ups of the wall hangings…
Living Room …
Unique view through our home takes me to my next topic…
I finished quilting the wedding wall hanging for my son and his bride.. do you see it on the chair in my sewing room in the photo above?!!!!
So I pulled out the red work project 🙂
Do you recall this Marcus Brothers panel I stumbled across last winter?? I had stitched one square on this panel in the spring.. then it sat waiting until now 😀
Before I knew it.. it was Saturday and I was making the chain stitch around the chicken….
Last time I stitched I had finished this old fashioned percolator coffee pot…
Next up will be the apple pie… yumm!
Linking this post up to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching post HERE <<< come see what other linkers’ know about and join the fun each Sunday!!!
Here is a sweet meme I found on facebook this week ! I sooo believe this too!
I am still having the seizures every now and then so still only hand stitching no machine work… no driving just riding… etc. And waiting for a BOM to open for sign ups 🙂
Are you ready for Pumpkin Picking??? Here is a Meme for you!!!
Then I changed my nail polish strips for a Autumn set…. This one is “wing it on”
Look at the Fall and Halloween sets available!!!!
Do YOU see any that make you happy? I am planning a Color Street Party in November… but enjoy these now by asking me for information!!! I don’t sell Color Street nail polish strips… but I have the hook up for ya 😀
Have you ever seen someone wearing a mask seriously but it isn’t covering their nose!
This seems so obvious but with so many showing their full nose.. maybe it isn’t!!
Thanks for visiting me and hanging out to the end… I certainly hope you leave me a message below… I would love to hear from you!
